520 _aTrials of 7 species were established in Sept. 1982 at 3 sites. Growth and survival at 20 and 25 months are tabulated. Mimosa scabrella and Erythrina poeppigiana did not survive the severe drought 2-8 months after establishment of the trial. Acacia mangium and Gliricidia sepium performed well, though the former suffered some damage by leaf cutter ants (Atta sp.) and the latter was defoliated, though not killed, by Cladosporium sp. Acacia auriculiformis grew fairly well. Calliandra calothyrus was slow to begin growth after establishment. Growth of Samanea saman was generally very poor.
