520 _aThe writer's botanical studies in British Honduras included an examination of the native species of pine. One of these, P. caribaeea, is a tree of increasing economic importance, whilst the presence of a second species, P. oocarpa var. ochoterenai, is not generally known, and up to now its identity has been uncertain. In this brief account, taxonomic notes on both species are followed by some observations on the variation, pathology, and ecology, of P. caribaea
