520 _aThe main activities carried out by the Institute in Antigua and Barbuda during 2018 are identified, with respect to the needs and interests of the country, strengthening issues such as apiculture, veterinary, public-private sector cooperation, sheep farming, greenhouses, seedling use, pest control, technology, food security and safety, resilience against climate change, climate-smart agriculture, using solar energy. Likewise, work was done to improve the coconut and citrus value chains, as well as bread production, by using sweet potatoes and cassava to replace starch in bread preparation. Finally, women were integrated into the agricultural sector, through the Network of Women Producers and supported in the revitalization of the sector, after the damage caused by hurricanes Irma and María.
520 _aSe identifican las principales actividades realizadas por el Instituto en Antigua y Barbuda durante el 2018, con respecto a las necesidades e interés del país, fortaleciendo en temas de apicultura, veterinaria, cooperación de los sectores público y privado, ganadería de ovinos, invernaderos, empleo de plántulas, control de plagas, tecnología, seguridad e inocuidad alimentaria, resiliencia contra el cambio climático, agricultura climáticamente inteligente, empleando energía solar. Asimismo, se trabajo en mejorar las cadenas de valor del coco y de los cítricos, así como la producción de pan, al emplear boniato y yuca para sustituir el almidón en la preparación del pan. Finalmente se integro a las mujeres en el sector agrícola, por medio de la Red de mujeres productoras y se apoyo en la revitalización del sector, después de los daños provocados por los huracanes Irma y María.
