520			_aEn este trabajo se determinó los productos de fibra y madera provenientes de bosques secundarios de las unidades agrarias de San Carlos y San Miguelito, Nicaragua, así como el uso actual y potencial para la elaboración de artesanías. Se definieron las principales categorías artesanales y cantidades comercializadas en el Mercado de Artesanías de Masaya y los canales de comercialización de materia prima y productos artesanales derivados de la fibra y la madera. También los ingresos netos al nivel de extractivismo a través de información de encuestas a propietarios de bosques secundarios, artesanos, vendedores del Mercado de Masaya e intermediarios. Así como talleres con la participación de artesanos y representantes de instituciones ligadas al sector artesanal. Además de entrevistas a representantes de organizaciones de artesanos. Los talleres producen diferentes tipos de artesanías de fibra y madera, las principales especies maderables usadas son Hymenaea courbaril, Dalbergia retusa y Cordia alliodora; las especies de fibra mas utilizadas son Attalea butyracea, Heteropsis sp., y Cyperus canus. La producción es baja por los altos costos de insumos y servicios. Sin embargo tiene aceptabilidad en el mercado interno y externo, principalmente en Costa Rica. Los agentes que comercializan la materia prima usada en los talleres de Masaya y Masatepe se clasificaron en cinco grupos: productores, aserraderos, intermediarios, puestos de venta y artesanos. Los resultados de este estudio aportan elementos para manejar la toma de decisiones de los productores y artesanos, esto puede contribuir a mejorar sus ingresos por medio de un flujo directo de la materia prima desde el bosque secundario hasta el artesano.
520			_aThrough this research fiber and wooden products coming from secondary forests of agricultural units in San Carlos and San Miguelito, Nicaragua, were determined. The current and potential use for the elaboration of crafts was also analysed. The main craft categories an the marked quantities of the Masay's Craft Market were defined, as well. Commercialization channels for the raw material and for the products derived from the fiber and from the wood were described. The net income coming from the products of the secondary forest and from the transformation and commercialization of the handcrafts activity was determined. The information was gathered through surveys to secondary forest owners, artisans, and representatives of the Masaya's Craft Market and middlemen. The information was also taken from workshops with the participation of artisans and representative institutions related to the handicraft sector. Additionally, interviews to representatives of artisan organizations were carried out. The shops produce different types fiber and wooden crafts, the main wooden species used for craft are Hymenaea courbaril, Dalbergia retusa and Cordia alliodora, the most used fiber species are Attlalea butyracea, Heteropsis sp., and Cyperus canus. The production in low due to the high costs of supplied and services; however it is well accepted by the internal and external market, mainly in Costa Rica. The agents that participate in the commecialization channel for raw material used shops of Masaya and Masatepe were classified in five groups: sawmills, middlemen, sale stands and artisans. The results of this study contribute to improve artisan and producer-making processes
