Programa de Investigación Logros de la investigación para el nuevo milenio. ActasResumen: The Plant Pathology Group of the CATIE/INTA IPM Project in Nicaragua has been carrying out studies since 1990 on the coffee disease complex. Based on experiments on epidemiology, disease sampling methods, criteria for fungicide application, and the effects of shade on diseases, we hypothesize that an equilibrium point can be defined at which the disease complex has minimal effects on production. Further studies are needed to define the interactions among varieties, soil fertility, shade type and level, and application of biologically-derived substances.
