The evaporated extract containing only small amounts of co-extracted fat is subjected to one of the current methods for PAH analysis. The technique is also applicable to difficult substrates as lecithin, spice oleoresins and essential oils. Recoveries for several PAHs including benzo(a)pyrene ranged from 72-87 percent.
