The writer's botanical studies in British Honduras included an examination of the native species of pine. One of these, P. caribaeea, is a tree of increasing economic importance, whilst the presence of a second species, P. oocarpa var. ochoterenai, is not generally known, and up to now its identity has been uncertain.
