Two methods of inoculation with micorrhizae were tested with six tropical conifers at the Turrialba nursery in wooden boxes. The species were Pinus caribaea, P. montezumae, P. pseudostrobus, P. strobus var. chiapensis, P. oocarpa and P. rudis. No significant difference was obtained by comparing the plants infected with mycorrhizae soil and those treated with infected plants. Mycorrhizae has shown to be a necessary element to obtain good initial growth of the tested Mexican and Central American pines, since in comparison with non-inoculated plants, a greater heigth and vigor is attained within a relatively short period
