The main objective was to investigate quantitatively and qualitatively initial growth rates and biomass production. At 5 and 10 months all plants were cut back to a height of 1 m. The cut material was weighed, and samples were analyzed for crude protein content and digestibility. Closer spacings produced more biomass in the time tested
