El Proyecto Red SICTA es una iniciativa conjunta de la Cooperación Suiza en América Central y del Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA). Su objetivo es contribuir a que los pequeños productores eleven la productividad y calidad de sus cosechas y se vinculen con los mercados para promover que sus ingresos mejoren. Para lograrlo, Red SICTA consta de tres componentes; Fortalecimiento del Sistema de Integración Centroamericana de Tecnología Agropecuaria (SICTA), Gestión de Conocimiento y Cofinanciamiento de Innovaciones en fincas de pequeños productores. El componente de promoción de Innovaciones en fincas de pequeños productores es el eje principal del proyecto. Un 50% de su presupuesto se destina a este componente. El proyecto es coordinado por el IICA, a través de una unidad ejecutora (UEP), con sede en Managua, Nicaragua, que tiene la misión de gerencia, planificación seguimiento y evaluación de la cartera de proyectos y acciones del componente de gestión de conocimiento. Durante el período de 2007 al 2010 Red SICTA ejecutó simultáneamente las Fases 1 y 2, e inició, en los últimos meses de 2010, la ejecución de la Fase 3. La Fase 2 inició a finales de 2007 ejecutando en total 15 proyectos los cuales en 2010 se redujeron a once en el primer semestre y a diez en el segundo semestre. La Fase 3 dio inicio en septiembre de 2010 se ejecutara paralelamente a la Fase 2 desde finales del año 2010 a finales de 2011.

The Red SICTA project is a joint initiative of the Swiss Cooperation in Central America and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA). During the period from 2007 to 2010, Red SICTA executed Phases 1 and 2 simultaneously, and began, in the last months of 2010, the execution of Phase 3. Phase 2 began at the end of 2007, executing a total of 15 projects, which in 2010 were reduced to eleven in the first half and ten in the second half. Phase 3 began in September 2010 and will run parallel to Phase 2 from the end of 2010 to the end of 2011.
