La contribución del IICA a la implementación y el seguimiento de los mandatos tiene dos referentes en el proceso Cumbres de las Américas. El primero es el marco de mandatos sobre agricultura y vida rural y de cooperación internacional contenidos en la Declaración de Quebec y su Plan de Acción, en la Declaración de Nuevo León y, más recientemente, en la Declaración de Mar del Plata y su Plan de Acción. El segundo referente es la condición del IICA de socio institucional del proceso Cumbres de las Américas y su papel como Secretaría del Proceso Ministerial Agricultura y Vida Rural en las Américas en el marco del proceso Cumbres de las Américas. En esencia, la cooperación del IICA para la implementación de los mandatos de las Cumbres está dirigida a facilitar la continuidad del Proceso Ministerial Agricultura y Vida Rural en las Américas y a contribuir a su articulación con el proceso de las Cumbres.

IICA's contribution to the implementation and follow-up of the mandates has two points of reference in the Summit of the Americas process. The first is the framework of mandates on agriculture and rural life and international cooperation set out in the Declaration of Quebec and its Plan of Action, in the Declaration of Nuevo Leon, and, more recently in the Declaration of Mar del Plata and its Plan of Action. The second point of reference is rooted in IICA's status as an institutional partner in the Summit of the Americas process and in its role as Secretariat for the ministerial process Agriculture and Rural Life in the Americas in the context of the Summit of the Americas process. Essentially, IICA's cooperation in implementing the mandates of the Summits is aimed at facilitating the continuity of the ministerial process Agriculture and Rural Life in the Americas and in contributing to its linkage with the Summit process.
