It is cultivated by a relatively high proportion of small farmers. The main species cultivated are Dioscorea alata, D. rotundata cayenensis complex, and D. trifida. Continuously, it refers to some common problems experience by farmers relate to: shortages of planting material; borers; and nematodes. Finally, two tables (coming from Dominica Trade Statistics) with the production of yam (1984-1987), and recorded yam exports are presented
