It is now realised that pathogen populations need to be considered when developing disease-management strategies Furthermore, laboratory isolates used in resistance studies were not representative of the pathogen populations in the field which are constantly changing to adapt to their environment. This paper aims to construct the population structure of Phytophthora palmivora in PNG in order to improve disease management.
