| Summary, etc | El jaúl, Alnus acuminata, es una de las principales especies nativas utilizadas en reforestación de las zonas altas de Costa Rica. A pesar de esta aceptación, hay muy poca información cuantitativa sobre el crecimiento de la especie para desarrollar programas de manejo. Una manera de obtener esta información es mediante el estudio de plantaciones, no manejadas, que existen en el área de distribución natural de la especie. Utilizando datos de parcelas temporales de jaúl en plantaciones no manejadas, se desarrolló un modelo preliminar de crecimiento, basado en correlaciones entre el dap, la altura y el área basal con la edad y el índice de sitio. Basándose en suposiciones lógicas se adaptó este modelo para predecir el crecimiento y rendimiento de plantaciones con índices de sitio diferentes y regímenes de aclareos |
