Este documento es un resumen de la publicación Perspectivas de la agricultura y del desarrollo rural en las Américas: una mirada hacia América Latina y el Caribe 2009, en el cual se resumen y resaltan los detalles más relevantes de cada capítulo y sección. La primera sección aborda los hechos estructurales que subyacen en la evolución, las tendencias recientes y las perspectivas del sector agrícola en sus cuatro grandes subsectores: agricultura, ganadería, bosques y pesca/acuicultura, con énfasis en recomendaciones de política. La segunda sección aborda, de la misma manera, el bienestar rural y la institucionalidad agrícola y rural. La tercera sección está destinada a un tema de coyuntura, de especial relevancia para la toma de decisiones en el sector, que en esta oportunidad es la volatilidad de los precios, sus causas y las incertidumbres futuras. |

This document is a summary of the publication Perspectives on Agriculture and Rural Development in the Americas: A Look at Latin America and the Caribbean 2009, in which the most relevant details of each chapter and section are summarized and highlighted. The first section addresses the structural facts underlying the evolution, recent trends and prospects of the agricultural sector in its four major subsectors: agriculture, livestock, forestry and fisheries / aquaculture, with an emphasis on policy recommendations. The second section addresses, in the same way, rural well-being and agricultural and rural institutions. The third section is devoted to a current situation, of special relevance for decision-making in the sector, which this time is price volatility, its causes and future uncertainties. |
