Este documento es el resumen ejecutivo de la publicación: Perspectivas de la agricultura y del desarrollo rural en las Américas: una mirada hacia América Latina y el Caribe 2011-2012, en el cual se menciona la importancia de que los países cuenten con instrumentos de política diferenciados para atenuar los efectos de la mayor volatilidad de los precios (incluido el tipo de cambio) en los ámbitos social, productivo y macroeconómico. Se postula también la necesidad de contar con políticas integrales para abordar los efectos de la mayor variabilidad climática en la agricultura, pues en un contexto de cambio climático es un factor adicional que contribuye a incrementar la volatilidad de los precios agrícolas. |

This document is the executive summary of the publication: Outlook for agriculture and rural development in the Americas: a look at Latin America and the Caribbean 2011-2012, which mentions the importance of countries having policy instruments differentiated to mitigate the effects of higher price volatility (including the exchange rate) in the social, productive and macroeconomic spheres. The need for comprehensive policies to address the effects of greater climate variability in agriculture is also postulated, since in a context of climate change it is an additional factor that contributes to increasing the volatility of agricultural prices. |
