IICA organized its annual Youth Farm Program, providing training in crop, livestock, and aquaponics production to 30 participants from Barbados and 8 from Antigua and Barbuda. The institute also facilitated the participation of 38 individuals from Antigua and Barbuda in the program, contributing to increasing the number of youth equipped to enhance food and nutritional security. IICA also promoted an urban and mobile backyard aquaponics unit, established an online community of backyard producers, and developed a program to boost trade and marketing by micro, small, and medium-sized agri-entrepreneurs. The Institute also led efforts to provide training in backyard gardening and procured equipment and machinery to establish the Barbados Innovation Center for Agriculture. The institute coordinated the execution of the Caribbean Virtual Agri-Food Trade Mission and continued to coordinate the execution of the 11th EDF SPS Measures Project to assist the region in modernizing agricultural health and food safety systems. |

El IICA organizó su Programa Agrícola Juvenil anual, brindando capacitación en producción agrícola, ganadera y acuapónica a 30 participantes de Barbados y 8 de Antigua y Barbuda. El instituto también facilitó la participación de 38 personas de Antigua y Barbuda en el programa, contribuyendo a aumentar el número de jóvenes equipados para mejorar la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional. El IICA también promovió una unidad de acuaponia de traspatio urbana y móvil, estableció una comunidad en línea de productores de traspatio y desarrolló un programa para impulsar el comercio y la comercialización de micro, pequeños y medianos agroempresarios. El Instituto también lideró esfuerzos para brindar capacitación en jardinería de traspatio y adquirió equipos y maquinaria para establecer el Centro de Innovación para la Agricultura de Barbados. El instituto coordinó la ejecución de la Misión Comercial Agroalimentaria Virtual del Caribe y continuó coordinando la ejecución del Proyecto de Medidas MSF del 11.º FED para ayudar a la región a modernizar los sistemas de sanidad agropecuaria e inocuidad de los alimentos. |
