IICA has provided technical assistance to Suriname for several projects aimed at improving agriculture production and technology. These projects include the establishment of plant nurseries equipped with automated irrigation systems for fruit trees, the construction of low-cost solar dryers for local dried salt fish production, and the creation of vegetable gardens in primary schools and a youth education cente; It has provided training to farmers and agroprocessors on plant nursery management and food safety standards; It supported initiatives to establish large-scale agroforestry demonstration plots, revitalize the local coconut industry, and assist female-owned agri-businesses and farmer organizations in formulating business plans for access to microfinancing; It conducted visits with the Suriname Minister of Agriculture to successful agricultural models in Costa Rica and provided technical assistance to the Ministry's Agricultural Competitiveness and Sustainable Agricultural Productivity Programs. |

El IICA ha brindado asistencia técnica a Suriname para varios proyectos destinados a mejorar la producción y tecnología agrícola. Estos proyectos incluyen el establecimiento de viveros equipados con sistemas de riego automático para árboles frutales, la construcción de secadores solares de bajo costo para la producción local de pescado salado seco y la creación de huertos en escuelas primarias y un centro de educación juvenil; Ha brindado capacitación a agricultores y agroprocesadores sobre gestión de viveros y normas de inocuidad de los alimentos; Apoyó iniciativas para establecer parcelas de demostración agroforestales a gran escala, revitalizar la industria local del coco y ayudar a las empresas agrícolas y organizaciones de agricultores propiedad de mujeres a formular planes comerciales para acceder a la microfinanciación; Realizó visitas con el Ministro de Agricultura de Surinam a modelos agrícolas exitosos en Costa Rica y brindó asistencia técnica a los Programas de Competitividad Agrícola y Productividad Agrícola Sostenible del Ministerio. |
