Se analizaron a través de modelos de regresión, los efectos de factores financieros, organizacionales, de capital humano, estado de la infraestructura, ambientales y climáticos sobre las horas de distribución de agua en comunidades rurales de Panamá, que son abastecidas a través de Juntas Administradoras de Acueductos Rurales o comités de agua comunitarios. Las horas promedio de distribución de agua para las comunidades analizadas fue de 19.22, con una desviación estándar de 7.85. Las horas de servicio promedio recibidas en las comunidades son influenciadas, mayormente, por variables como la rendición de cuentas de los comités hacia los usuarios, la disponibilidad de fondos monetarios, la aplicación de medidas preventivas y correctivas en los sistemas, así como el estado de la infraestructura de agua. Dentro de las variables ambientales y climáticas consideradas, la variable precipitación presentó alta significancia, considerándose como un predictor para la recarga hídrica, al igual que la variable de cobertura boscosa a nivel de cuenca, ambas presentaron un efecto positivo sobre las horas de distribución de agua. Este estudio servirá de base para la toma de decisiones y fortalecimiento de las capacidades técnicas y administrativas de los comités de agua en Panamá, a fin de mejorar los servicios que proveen. |

Regression models were used to analyze the effects of financial, organizational, human capital, infrastructure, environmental and climatic factors on the hours of water distribution in rural communities in Panama that are supplied through Rural Aqueduct Management Boards or community water committees. The average hours of water distribution for the communities analyzed was 19.22, with a standard deviation of 7.85. The average hours of service received in the communities are mostly influenced by variables such as the accountability of the committees to the users, the availability of monetary funds, the application of preventive and corrective measures in the systems, as well as the condition of the water infrastructure. Among the environmental and climatic variables considered, the precipitation variable was highly significant and was considered a predictor of groundwater recharge, as was the forest cover variable at the basin level, both of which had a positive effect on the hours of water distribution. This study will serve as a basis for decision making and strengthening the technical and administrative capacities of water committees in Panama, in order to improve the services they provide. |
