The main activities carried out by the Institute in Belize during 2021 are identified, with respect to the needs and interests of the country, contributing to issues such as resilience to climate change, restoring and improving vital ecosystems, sustainability, biosecurity, pest control, such as Newscatle disease, mitigating the lack of water availability and forest conservation. Likewise, work was done on a germplasm collection center for non-traditional crops, to improve the sanitary and phytosanitary capacity of the fishery and poultry sector. Finally, support was provided to improve international trade, public and private industry and healthy lifestyles, promoting the consumption of local fruits and vegetables. |

Se identifican las principales actividades realizadas por el Instituto en Belice durante el 2021, con respecto a las necesidades e interés del país, contribuyendo en temas como la resiliencia ante el cambio climático, restaurando y mejorando los ecosistemas vitales, en sostenibilidad, en bioseguridad, en el control de plagas, como la enfermedad Newscatle, mitigando la falta de disponibilidad de agua y la conservación de bosques. Asimismo, se trabajo en un centro de acopio de germoplasma para cultivos no tradicionales, en mejorar la capacidad sanitaria y fitosanitaria del sector pesquero y avícola. Finalmente, se brindo apoyo en el mejoramiento del comercio internacional, de la industria pública y privada y en estilos de vida saludable, impulsando el consumo de frutas y verduras locales. |
