El contenido de este manual está pensado para proveer al personal técnico de los gobiernos y organizaciones nacionales y locales recomendaciones metodológicas apegadas a principios internacionales de buenas prácticas, para cuantificar de forma completa las existencias de carbono azul en manglares. El manual describe primeramente cómo diseñar un inventario y seleccionar la muestra; luego, detalla los pasos del trabajo de campo desde una perspectiva práctica. Además, detalla los procedimientos de laboratorio necesarios para realizar los análisis químicos en muestras de suelo y tejido vegetal de los manglares y dedica una sección a describir los cálculos por realizar con los datos recopilados. También desarrolla una sección con los pasos para modelar el uso/cobertura del suelo en zonas marino-costeras, antes de terminar brindando recomendaciones para facilitar la incorporación de los datos de carbono azul en procesos nacionales. |
