Este documento menciona que el manejo y producción de madera se percibe una urgente necesidad de considerar, entre otros aspectos técnicos, los requerimientos del mercado para los productos de madera. Con este manual se pretende cubrir el vacío que existe en la industria maderera guatemalteca. Sin embargo, el manual por sí solo no logrará sus objetivos si la administración de la empresa forestal no adopta las buenas prácticas que se detallan y si, además, no las da a conocer a sus socios y a su personal técnico. Las metas se alcanzarán únicamente si todas las personas involucradas en el quehacer forestal se convencen de los beneficios que se obtienen con la aplicación de las buenas prácticas de manejo, manipulación y producción de madera. El mejoramiento del quehacer forestal también incide en la buena imagen que la empresa proyecte en el mercado, al entregar productos de calidad. En ese sentido, el manual incluye el tema de plagas o insectos que atacan la madera, los cuales causan daños y desvalorizan los productos elaborados y, por ende, disminuyen los ingresos y rentabilidad de la empresa. |
