Para este documento se tomó en consideración que la diversidad de los sistemas productivos de la región y la organización local son estrategias con las que las familias rurales han enfrentado la alta variabilidad climática natural, desde hace cientos de años. Pero el aumento en la velocidad e intensidad de esta la variabilidad climática y el cambio climático hacen que cada vez sea más difícil la adaptación a nivel individual. La metodología que presenta se basa en CRisTAL, una herramienta para la identificación comunitaria de riesgos, adaptación y medios de vida (IISD 2013) y ha ido creciendo y ajustándose con la experiencia lograda en diferentes realidades de la región: Chiapas (México, Prado 2011), el Caribe Sur (Costa Rica, Aragón et al. 2012), la Región Hidrográfica del Estero de Jaltepeque (El Salvador), la cuenca del río Guacerique (Honduras) y la región de Los Santos (Costa Rica) (Urueña y Zamora 2013, Zamora y Urueña 2014). Los lugares fueron elegidos por la demanda de un proyecto local o por ser prioridad para los gobiernos nacionales. En este documento presentamos lo que hemos logrado hasta el momento, conscientes de varios aspectos para mejorar la metodología. Esperamos que la retroalimentación de nuevos procesos contribuya a esta tarea. |
