El estudio se llevó a cabo bajo el marco del Proyecto Cacao Centroamérica (PCC) de CATIE, en el cual se ejecutó el programa de escuelas de campo como una metodología para fortalecer capacidades en las familias cacaoteras en Centroamérica. El estudio consistió en conocer el impacto de las escuelas de campo (ECA) en dos zonas de estudio: Talamanca y Upala, Costa Rica. Para equidad y género se trabajó con entrevistas familiares, en el tema de SA se observó la diversidad y disponibilidad de especies dentro y fuera del cacaotal, así como el aporte de estas especies a los siete rasgos alimenticios (proteínas, carbohidratos, hierro, zinc, vitamina A, C y acido fólico) los cuales según la FAO, son esenciales para el buen funcionamiento de los seres humanos. Con respecto a las organizaciones, las ECA influyó en el aumento de socios en las organizaciones, provocando un aumento en la cantidad de producto de acopio, para el cual no estaban preparadas. Actualmente esta situación está poniendo a prueba las organizaciones Talamanqueñas. En Upala debido a anteriores problemas administrativos, han surgido nuevas asociaciones las cuales se espera que a largo plazo ayuden al desarrollo y mejora de la calidad de vida de los productores. |

The investigation was conducted under the framework of an institutional program Cacao Centroamérica, CATIE, which implemented the field school program as a methodology to strengthen capacities in cocoa families in Central America. The study consisted in examine the impact of field schools (FFS) in two areas of study: Upala and Talamanca, Costa Rica. For gender equity we worked with family interviews, about the issue of food security was observed diversity and availability of species inside and outside the cocoa field, and also the contribution of these species to seven traits food (proteins, carbohydrates, iron, zinc, vitamin a, c and folic acid) which according to FAO, are essential for the proper functioning of human beings. With regard to organizations, the FFS influenced in the growth membership in the association, that caused an increase in the amount of product to which organizations were not prepared, this situation is currently being tested talamanqueñas organizations. In Upala, previous administrative problems, caused the new partnerships have emerged which are expected to help the long-term development and improved quality of producers life. |
