Se elaboró una propuesta de zonificación ambiental como insumo para el ordenamiento territorial de la subcuenca bimunicipal del río Aguas Calientes, departamento de Madriz, Nicaragua. Se integraron factores biofísicos, socioeconómicos, procesos participativos y criterios técnicos y legales. La metodología constó de tres fases: recopilación de información, análisis del uso actual del suelo y propuesta de zonificación ambiental. Para la recuperación de insumos se hicieron talleres de comunicación, educación y zonificación participativa con los comités comunales de cuenca. Entre los productos obtenidos están la ubicación espacial de la información socioeconómica y biofísica, el análisis de conflictos de uso de la tierra, la distribución de las zonas potenciales de recarga hídrica y zonas vulnerables a deslizamientos, además de la propuesta de 15 subcategorías de manejo de la subcuenca. Se recomienda compartir la propuesta de zonificación con los usuarios locales y ganar el respaldo legal mediante una ordenanza municipal para asegurar su implementación |

An environmental zoning proposal was made as part of a land use plan for the Aguas Calientes sub- watershed, department of Madriz, Nicaragua. Biophysical and socioeconomic factors, legal and technical criteria and other participative processes were integrated for this purpose. The methodology consisted of three steps: information gathering, soil current use analysis, and the zoning proposal. For gathering information, participative communication, education and zoning workshops were held with local committees. Among the products obtained were a geographical database on social, economic and biophysical information, a land use conflict analysis, and location of hydrologic recharge and historical landslide zones; also, fifteen management subclasses were identified. It is advisable to share the zoning proposal with local stakeholders and to gain it legal support through a municipal ordinance in order to assure its implementation |
