Se determinaron los principales parámetros que conforman la morfometría de la microcuenca del río Araquá, en Sao Paulo, Brasil y se analizó su relación con el comportamiento hídrico, los bosques ribereños, las características de la vegetación arbórea y el potencial para producir servicios ambientales. Los resultados de la morfometría son indicativos de un suelo permeable con alta relación infiltración/caudal total, lo que indica una baja susceptibilidad a la degradación ambiental. La microcuenca tiene una área 31,7 km2, una red de drenaje de 42,5 km de longitud y 304,5 ha de área de preservación permanente, todo lo cual favorece la generación de servicios ambientales. Los bosques ribereños ocupan el 9,6 por ciento del área de la microcuenca y albergan el 60 por ciento de las 35 especies arbóreas identificadas. En términos de sucesión ecológica, de las 35 especies identificadas, 60 por ciento son secundarias, 25,7 por ciento pioneras y 14,3 por ciento en fase final de sucesión ecológica (clímax). La microcuenca se encuentra relativamente estable desde el punto de vista de la conservación ambiental y producción potencial de servicios ambientales presenta importantes características fisiográficas naturales, alto excedente hídrico con seis cascadas y relieve con exposición de rocas y bosques preservados con diversidad de especies y bellezas escénicas propicias para el ecoturismo. |

Morpho-parameters for the Araquá River microwatershed were determined, and analyzed their relationship to water production, riparian forests conservation, trees population and potential for environmental services production. Measurements indicate that soils are permeable, with a high infiltration/total flow relation, which denotes a high capacity for environment conservation. The microwatershed area is 31,7 km2, with a 42,5 km-long draining system and a 304,5 ha permanent preserving area. These conditions favor the environmental services generation. Riparian forests cover 9,6 per cent of the microwatershed, and house 60 per cent of the 35 tree species identified. According to ecologic succession, 60 per cent of identified tree species are secondary, 25,7 per cent are pioneer, and 14,3 per cent are climax species. The microwatershed is in relatively good condition for environmental conservation and generation of services it also has physiographic characteristics, a good level of water production (6 waterfalls), exposed rocks, well preserved forests with a variety of flora species, and scenic beauty for ecotourism facilities. |
