Se evaluó la cantidad de hojarasca y nutrientes que pueden reciclar los árboles (Pithecellobium saman y Guazuma ulmifolia) y los pastos naturales (Paspalum conjugatum) y mejorados (Brachiaria brizantha) asociados en sistemas silvopastoriles, para determinar su contribución al reciclaje de nutrientes. El estudio se realizó en fincas privadas de Muy Muy, Nicaragua. En estos sistemas silvopastoriles que tuvieron baja densidad arbórea, los pastos aportaron mayor cantidad de hojarasca que los árboles. Los suelos bajo de la copa de los árboles muestran un incremento en los valores absolutos de nutrientes en comparación con áreas sin la influencia de los árboles. |

The quantity of leaf litter and the nutrients that trees (Pithecellobium saman and Guazuma ulmifolia), natural pastures (Paspalum conjugatum) and improved pastures (Brachiaria brizantha) in silvopastoral systems were evaluated to determine the contribution of each to nutrient recycling. This study was conducted on private farms in Muy Muy, Nicaragua. In these silvopastoral systems that had low tree densities, the pastures supplied greater quantities of leaf litter than the trees. The soils under the tree canopies showed an increase in the absolute values for the nutrients compared to the areas not influenced by trees. |
