En este estudio se define restauración a escala de paisaje como el proceso de recuparación de funciones de los ecosistemas degradados del paisaje y el mejoramiento de las condiciones de vida de las comunidades locales, a través de los bienes y servicios que provee el paisaje. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar las condiciones, procesos y resultados de la restauración del paisaje en el Cantón de Hojancha, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. En cuanto a la metodología que integra la obtención de información mediante PCI y sistematización, se considera oportuna para estudios a escala de paisaje. Con respecto a la restauración del paisaje, ésta incluyó acciones de reemplazo, rehabilitación y restauración, se caracteriza por haber sido un proceso adaptativo, y vista en relación al cambio en el uso del suelo, ha respondido a las tendencias de políticas y mercados a nivel nacional e internacional; es decir que la sosteniblidad de la restauración podría estar siempre sujeta a cambio. |

In this study, restoration is defined on a landscape level as the recovery process of the degraded ecosystem functions in the landscape and the improvement of the livelihood conditions in the local communities through the goods and services provided by the landscape. The objetive of this study was to evaluate the conditions, processes, and results of landscape restauration in Hojancha, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The methodology which integrated the data collection through the PCI and systematization was considered convenient for landscape level studies. With respect to the landscape restoration, which included replacement actions, rehabilitation, and restoration, it was characterized for being and adaptive process. In relation to land use change, it responded to the political and market tendencies at both the national and international levels. This indicated that restoration sustainability may always be subject to change. |
