Summary, etc	Estudios sobre la supresividad a Radopholus similis de tres suelos: supresivos, moderadamente supresivos y no supresivos, cultivados con plátano en Sixaola, Costa Rica fueron realizados en la presente investigación. Los resultados de los bioensayos demostraron que plantas con hongos endofíticos presentaron reducciones hasta 88 y 86 por ciento en la población final de R. similis en el sistema radical de plátano y banano, respectivamente, en comparación con plantas control. Los aislados endofíticos Fusarium S9 y Trichoderma S10 fueron los mejores biocontroladores de R. similis tanto en banano como en plátano, superando a los aislados de actividad antagonística conocida como Fusarium T5 y Trichoderma T12 provenientes de suelos supresivos de Guatemala. Por otro lado, se registraron reducciones hasta 89 por ciento y 88 por ciento en la población final de R. similis en suelo de plantas protegidas de plátano y banano, respectivamente, en comparación con el suelo de plantas control. Adicionalmente al efecto de biocontrol, los aislados Fusarium S9 y Trichoderma S10 ejercieron un efecto en la promoción de crecimiento del sistema radical y foliar de plantas protegidas tanto en plátano como en banano.

Summary, etc	Studies on suppressiveness to Radopholus similis of three soils (suppressive, moderately suppressive and non-suppressive), cultivated with plantain in Sixaola, Costa Rica were conducted as part of this research. Results from the bioassays demonstrated that plants protected with endophytic fungi showed reductions of up to 88 and 86 percent regarding R. similis final population found in the root system of plantain and banana respectively, compared to check plants. Fusarium S9 and Trichoderma S10 were the best R. similis bio-controllers, both for banana and plantain, surpassing antagonistic activity isolates known as Fusarium T5 and Trichoderma T12 from suppressive soils of Guatemala. On the other side, reductions of up to 89 and 88 percent in R. similis final population were found in plant soils of protected plantain and banana, respectively, compared to control plants. Furthermore, the bio-control effect of Fusarium S9 and Trichoderma T12 isolates had an effect on growth promotion of the root and foliar system of protected plants of plantain and banana.
