Este documento es un resumen de la publicación Perspectivas de la agricultura y del desarrollo rural en las Américas: una mirada hacia América Latina y el Caribe 2010, en la cual se destaca los detalles más importantes de los capítulos desarrollados, el primero trata las principales tendencias macroeconómicas en las cuales el sector se desenvuelve. El segundo incluye los hechos estructurales, las perspectivas y las recomendaciones para las políticas del sector agrícola ampliado en sus cuatro grandes subsectores: agricultura, ganadería, bosques y pesca/acuicultura. El tercero sección aborda temas relativos al bienestar y la institucionalidad agrícola y rural. Finalmente, la cuarta sección del libro discute un tema de importancia coyuntural y de relevancia transversal para el sector: el comercio agrícola en la región, sus últimas tendencias y desafíos. This document is a summary of the publication Perspectives of agriculture and rural development in the Americas: a look at Latin America and the Caribbean 2010, in which the most important details of the developed chapters are highlighted, the first one deals with the main trends macroeconomic conditions in which the sector operates. The second includes the structural facts, perspectives, and policy recommendations for the expanded agricultural sector in its four major subsectors: agriculture, livestock, forestry, and fisheries / aquaculture. The third section addresses issues related to well-being and agricultural and rural institutions. Finally, the fourth section of the book discusses an issue of short-term importance and cross-cutting relevance for the sector: agricultural trade in the region, its latest trends and challenges.
