Este documento procura apoyar el trabajo de los países de América Latina y el Caribe (ALC) en la preparación y ejecución de sus programas para la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional (SAN), como parte de los esfuerzos más amplios de fortalecimiento y mejora de los sistemas agroalimentarios. La sección inicial presenta una breve historia de las nociones de SAN. Muestra los diferentes niveles en que se ha focalizado, desde la producción hasta el consumo de alimentos y desde visiones globales hasta el foco en seres humanos individuales. Una segunda sección analiza diferentes indicadores SAN sobre individuos y presenta datos generales para ALC. Support the work of countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) in the preparation and implementation of their programs for food and nutrition security (FNS), as part of broader efforts to strengthen and improve agri-food systems. The initial section provides a brief history of the concepts of FNS, highlighting the various levels at which it has been addressed, from food production to consumption, and from global perspectives to a focus on individual human beings. A second section analyzes different FNS indicators for individuals and presents general data for LAC.
