Este documento es fruto del esfuerzo conjunto de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO) y el Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA). La coordinación general estuvo a cargo de Joaquín Arias (IICA) y su elaboración estuvo liderada por un grupo interinstitucional integrado por Adrián Rodríguez (CEPAL), Luis Beduschi (FAO) y Joaquín Arias (IICA). Este documento pretende brindar la información sobre las acciones para la transformación rural y agrícola de América Latina y El Caribe en el escenario de recuperación posterior a la pandemia por COVID-19, se menciona la situación financiera y la vulnerabilidad ambiental de los sistemas alimentarios. Además se presenta un contexto tanto regional como internacional en cuanto al impacto en el crecimiento económico y los sistemas agroalimentarios, la pobreza, la seguridad alimentaria, precios de los productos por la pandemia. Se menciona al comercio como una oportunidad de el desarrollo de los sistemas alimentarios y la construcción de la resiliencia al cambio climático. Se presentan las tendencias y disruptores que venían configurando la trayectoria de la agricultura y los sistemas agroalimentarios previo a la pandemia. Igualmente, se presenta las oportunidades de aprovechamiento para un futuro agroalimentario más resiliente y equitativo. Por otra parte, se abarca el tema sobre la digitalización de la agricultura como base para transformar los sistemas agroalimentarios, cuáles son sus beneficios y riesgos, y que gracias a la pandemia este proceso a sido acelerado. This document is the result of the joint effort of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation for Agriculture (IICA). The general coordination was in charge of Joaquín Arias (IICA) and its preparation was led by an inter-institutional group made up of Adrián Rodríguez (ECLAC), Luis Beduschi (FAO) and Joaquín Arias (IICA). This document aims to provide information on actions for the rural and agricultural transformation of Latin America and the Caribbean in the recovery scenario after the COVID-19 pandemic, mentioning the financial situation and environmental vulnerability of food systems. In addition, a regional and international context is presented in terms of the impact on economic growth and agri-food systems, poverty, food security, and product prices due to the pandemic. Trade is mentioned as an opportunity to develop food systems and build resilience to climate change. The trends and disruptors that had been shaping the trajectory of agriculture and agri-food systems prior to the pandemic are presented. Likewise, opportunities are presented for use for a more resilient and equitable agri-food future. On the other hand, the issue of digitization of agriculture is covered as a basis for transforming agri-food systems, what are its benefits and risks, and that thanks to the pandemic this process has been accelerated.
