The post harvest system needs to be tailorad to the needs of the people it serves. The area concerned in this paper is the transfer od post harvet technologies to small farmers as part of the total rural development effort, with attention being called specifically to some of the related major policy implications and issues involved. El sistema de poscosecha debe adaptarse a las necesidades de las personas a las que sirve. El área en cuestión en este documento es la transferencia de tecnologías posteriores a la cosecha a los pequeños agricultores como parte del esfuerzo total de desarrollo rural, con especial atención a algunas de las principales implicaciones y cuestiones relacionadas con las políticas.
