Se elaboró un estándar compuesto por principios, criterios e indicadores para evaluar la sostenibilidad del manejo forestal comunitario. El mismo se aplicó en 16 unidades de manejo del estado de Guerrero, México. Se identificaron algunos beneficios alcanzados por las unidades de manejo que gestionan sus recursos naturales, en comparación con aquellas que no lo hacen. Se encontró que el manejo del bosque mejora cuando existe una mejor distribución de responsabilidades en la empresa forestal, controles contables y registros, mecanismos de seguridad social y reinversiones. La tipología diseñada podría orientar la operación de los programas de incentivos. A standard of principles, criteria, and indicators was developed to evaluate the sustainability of community forest management in 16 management units in the State of Guerrero, Mexico. The study identified some benefits obtained by the management units that profit their forest it was found that forest management is determined by factors such as distribution of responsabilities in the forestry enterprise, use of accounting and registers, reinvestments, and social security mechanisms.
