Se evaluó el impacto ecológico de las operaciones de manejo forestal en dos bosques húmedos de tierras bajas certificados en la RAAN, Nicaragua, sometidos a dos diferentes regímenes de intervención, uno con aprovechamiento de baja intensidad (ABI, 8,9 m3/ha), y otro más intensamente aprovechado (AAI, 17,6 m3/ha). El estudio se realizó tres meses y un año después del aprovechamiento en el caso del ABI y el AAI, respectivamente. El propósito del mismo fue evaluar procedimientos descritos en una guía de monitoreo diseñada para apoyar los esfuerzos de certificación y buen manejo forestal en bosques de Mesoamérica. The ecological impacts of forest management operations were evaluated in two certified lowland rain forests of the RAAN, Nicaragua, subjected to two different intervention regimes: low intensity harvesting (ABI, harvesting an average 8,9 m3/ha), and the other more intensively harvested (AAI, 17,6 m3/ha). This study was conducted three months and one year after wood harvest for the ABI and AAI, respectively. The study was carried out to evaluate procedures described in a Monitoring Guide designed to support good forest management and forest certification in Mesoamerican forests
